Darrin DeTorres

Darrin DeTorresDarrin DeTorres will be officially coming on as a volunteer assistant coach after 7 years of helping the team out when needed. Darrin’s passion for running started in 7th grade but really blossomed in 9th grade when he started running for Vanguard High School. While at Vanguard, Darrin was part of 3 varsity teams that placed top 10 in the state of Florida. He was also a 4 year varsity track and field athlete. Darrin’s hard work in high school paid dividends by earning him a scholarship to run at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Unfortunately Darrin was in a car accident that ruined his freshmen season and he ended up getting his degree from the University of North Florida.

While trying to get back into the shape of his high school days, Darrin has been keeping busy with other aspects of the sport. In addition to recently becoming a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach, Darrin stays busy by announcing track meets, most notably the NCAA East Preliminaries and the Florida State Championships. When Darrin is not running or helping with Vanguard’s team he can be found pursuing many projects in hopes of helping promote cross country and track among the youth.
